Blaine Gale Berg, 84, passed away on Feb. 10, 2017, in Anchorage, Alaska, following a battle with lung cancer. Blaine was born on July 4, 1932, in Portland, Ore., to Earl John Berg and Cora May (Larson) Berg. He attended West Seattle High School and St. Martins High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. Blaine moved to Juneau, Alaska, in 1979, residing there until 1996, when he moved to Anchorage.

On May 27, 1983, he married Linda Stevens Berg in Juneau. He was a man of many interests and enjoyed sharing his love of Alaska with everyone. He was a programmer at Boeing in Seattle, Wash., Analyst Programmer at United Data Processing, System Analyst for the State of Oregon, Programmer Analyst retiring from the State of Alaska, Analyst at Computer Task Group (CTG), driver/guide at Gray Line of Alaska (Juneau), Car Manager at McKinley Explorer and a driver/guide for Premier Alaska Tours. He volunteered and helped with the communications for several of the Iditarod races and was a member of the Juneau Coast Guard Auxiliary. His hobbies included fishing, playing with his dogs, spending time with family and amateur radio, call sign-KL7TG.

Blaine was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lowell Ryland Berg. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Stevens Berg of Anchorage; his four daughters, Judy Berg of Crooked River Ranch, Ore., Karyn (Jim) Adams and Kathryn O'Neil, both of Medford, Ore., and Kristyn Berg of Anchorage; his two sons, Wesley (Dawn) Berg and Vincent (Beth) Berg, both of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
