Lewis Lemual Leffingwell Jr., 78, also known as Dutch or Lee by his friends and family passed away February 4, 2008 at Beautiful Savior, Belton, MO.

A memorial to celebrate his life will be at 2-3 pm Saturday, February 9 at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 611 Chestnut, Belton MO. A Military Service will be scheduled at a later date at Fort Leavenworth.

Lewis was born Dec. 16, 1929 in Kansas City, MO to Lewis Sr. and Clarissa Leffingwell.

After graduating in 1946 from East High School he received his Bachelors Degree in Broadcast and Communications. At age 17 he joined the Army and went into the Signal Corp. Lewis was honored with the Rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3. He served in Vietnam, Korean and the Cold War in Berlin, retiring in March 1972.

He was a member of Shawnee Masonic Lodge #452 and Daylite Delaware #96 AF & AM where he was an Abdullah Shriner. Lewis was involvement in a local Ham Radio Club and worked several jobs in Kansas City, the Ford Plant, Folgers Coffee, and local radio stations.

Preceded in death by his brother, Phil and sister Polly. Survived by wife, Janie Leffingwell, Raymore MO; children, Laurie, Mike, Gary, Donald, Susan, Karen, Cindy and Lisa; 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Arr: McGilley & George Funeral Home (816-322-2995)
