Raised: Lake Worth, FL; Lexington, KY; Hinton and Oak Hill, WV and Miami, FL.

Former DX calls: OH2 and OH0/K8MN ('85-'87 and '95-'98), J52US ('88-'89), 9L1US ('90-'91), A22MN ('92-'95), 5H3US ('98-'00) and part of the July, 1986 OH0MD/OJ0 crew operating from Market Reef.

First licensed: WN8LET November 21 1963, Oak Hill, WV. Later obtained WB4KTR after a 1966 move to Miami I retained that call until 1977.

Amateur Radio Interests: DXing (especially on 160, 80 and 6m), Contesting, rag chewing, collecting and restoring vintage gear, amateur radio history.

Bands/modes of operation: 160m through 70cm SSB, CW, AM and digital modes.

Other Interests: Music (playing guitar, bass, listening to a wide variety and producing home recordings), photography, videography, gardening, reading, writing, genealogy, astronomy, history , humor, current events and collecting and restoring antiques.

K8MN was issued to me in 1977. My amateur radio mentor was Andy Timberlake W8MN--an old two letter call, Advanced Class amateur from Hinton, WV. My call honors Andy.

I'm active on the air. To quote Rod Newkirk of "How's DX" fame, "You might have heard me anywhere. Name a band and I was there."
