K8BSW - Robert T. 'Bob' Roberts

Robert Thomas Roberts, 76, passed away Oct. 29, 2017. He was the son of Robert S. Roberts and Doris Roberts of Elyria Ohio, where Bob was born. A loving husband for 47 years, Bob also was an exceptional father, and prominent local business owner. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet; son, Todd (Rita) Roberts; daughter, Deana Hershey; son-in-law, Scott Hershey; and sister, Barbara Roberts. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Joyce (Johns).

A proud OSU Alumni, Bob excelled in electrical engineering becoming a Professional Engineer in 1969 which led to a very successful career. As a young man he accepted a position with H. A. Williams & Associates, worked his way up through the company, becoming a partner in the firm in 1973 and serving as president from 1985 to 2000.

During this time he was an esteemed member and president of Ohio Society of Professional Engineers. He was instrumental in the construction of several well-known Columbus developments including, Bank One Corporate Center, portions of Chemical Abstracts and Nationwide Children's Hospital, and Ohio Bell Telephone. He was licensed in many states, including work for Key Bank in Maine, and Alaska.

Committed to his community, he served as a Selectman in the Town of Frye Island, Maine. He also served as president of Oyster Bay Village in Alabama, and served as an elder at Highlands Presbyterian Church in northwest Columbus.

He was keenly interested in amateur radio obtaining his HAM license as a young boy, leveling up several times while maintaining his original call sign until he became a silent key. He was an avid golfer and long-time member of The Country Club at Muirfield Village.

He enjoyed travel, and any time he could spend with family. A man of deep faith and integrity, Bob always led by example and was a generous teacher. His legacy is filled with kindness, generosity, and love.

A service will be held at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St, Worthington, Ohio on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11 am with one hour of calling prior to the service.
