I was an SWL for about 4 years before taking the novice exam in 1962 at age 15. I received the call sign WN4LPX and upgraded in July 1963. I Was very active using a Heathkit DX-60 transmitter, a Drake 2B receiver and dipoles mostly on CW. Entered the US Air Force in 1966 and my operating was very limited. I did operate at K5TYP, the club station at Keesler AFB MS, while attending avionics tech school and also operated while at Shaw AFB in Sumter SC. I met my wonderful XYL Judy while in Sumter and we were married in 1969. We have 2 adult children and 7 grandkids. After spending most of 1969 and part of 1970 in Vietnam, I left the USAF for civilian life. Got back on the air regularly in 1971and upgraded to extra class license in 1972. Was employed with Stevens Aviation (GSP Int'l Airport) in aviation electronics from 1970 until my retirement in 2009. I was honored to be presented the FAA "National Avionics Technician of the Year" award in 2004.

I work all bands from 160M to 440 and some operating achievements are 5BWAS # 194 with 160, 30, 17, 12 and 6 meter endorsements, RTTY WAS # 87 and Triple Play # 586. My particular interest is DX and have DXCC Honor Roll Mixed, CW and Phone and RTTY DXCC. Also 5BDXCC with 160, 30, 17 and 12 meter endorsements. Obtained 'Top of the Honor Roll' since 1992.
