Jerry was born and raised in northeastern Ohio and was first licensed in 1961 as K8CGU. Following college, Ohio University and then Cleveland Institute of Music-Case Western Reserve University,he auditioned for a clarinet opening in the "President's Own" U.S.Marine Band and White House orchestra in Washington, D.C.; the next 21 years were invested in a career with this historic musical organization from 1967 thru 1988.
After retiring from the Marine Band in 1988, Jerry and his wife, Kathy (cellist) were professors of instrumental music for 5 years at Cedarville University, a Christian liberal arts institution located in southwestern Ohio, near Dayton. In 1995. After leaving Cedarville they moved to Minneola, Florida where they now reside. Jerry and Kathy both play music professionally in the central Florida area and teach private instrumental music instruction. They perform sacred, classically-styled concerts in churches nationwide presenting the "great hymns of the Faith" in an instrumental setting. They are both members of the Space Coast Pops Orchestra, conducted by the famous Richard Hayman, formerly the musical arranger for the Boston Pops. Jerry and Kathy also perform at Christmas time in the Walt Disney World Orchestra at EPCOT playing for the renowned "Candlelight Processional" which is a holiday program event presented three times per night beginning the Friday following Thanksgiving through December 30 at the American Gardens Theatre directly across from the American Adventure.

Jerry's favorite mode is CW and is typically operating during the morning hours on the 40, 30 and 20 meter bands.
