His passion for golf, writing and HAM radio kept him busy upon retirement and he kept the family laughing with his jokes and puns through every second of each day. He practiced psychiatry in Portsmouth for more than 40 years and retired from Churchland Psychiatric Associates Inc. in 2006. Born Feb. 2, 1940, Dan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Kay; his daughters, Elisa Hudson and Kristyn Neidermeyer and their spouses, John Hudson, Jr and Scot Neidermeyer; four grandchildren, Garrett and Colby Hudson and Zackary and Rylie Neidermeyer; and his brother, David Kay and wife Jane Kay of Jacksonville, Fla.; as well as their three children and extended families. A memorial service will be held Friday at 3 pm at Green Acres Presbyterian Church, 3135 Hanley Ave, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association (AHA) or to a charity of your choice. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, will provide further details.
