At age 17 in Michigan I was first licensed in 1951 as Novice WN8IQH and upgraded to General W8IQH the next year where I operated HF CW and mostly AM phone on 160 meters mobile and fixed. Marriage, moving to New York state and raising seven kids curtailed most of my ham activity.

I returned to hamming when I retired from IBM in 1996 and earned my Advanced and Extra tickets. Most of my operating is on the NTS (National Traffic System) nets. The ESS (Empire Slow Speed) CW net meets daily at 6PM local time on 3576 kHz. My rig is an IC-746PRO with a G5RV antenna up about 30 feet.

I am also an avid reader of non-fiction.
