Mr. George A. Manning (MCPO-USCG-Retired), 78 of Pembroke died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. The son of the late George A. and Beatrice (Gingras) Manning, he was born in Medford on July 14, 1931. Mr. Manning was a 20 year Veteran of the US Coast Guard, retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He was later employed for 27 years as a Broadcast Engineer for WHDH, Channel 7. He was an avid private pilot and an amateur radio enthusiast with the call letters K1CG.

K1CG - George Manning Husband of the late Elaine F. (Rioux) Manning, father of Gail E. Manning of Pembroke, George A. Manning Jr. of Plympton, Larry J. Manning of Marshfield, Scott P. Manning of Wilmington NC and Peter J. Manning of Marshfield. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral Service in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Thursday at 10 AM. Visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery in Pembroke.

Sad to report George Manning, RMCM, USCG (Ret.) K1CG crossed the bar this past week. George lived near Boston and had spend over 20 years as a Coast Guard Radio Operator on many Ocean Station Vessels, and severala tours at NMF/Marshfield and the Boston Communication Center. Long time member of the Coast Guard CW Operators Association.
