Ham Radio Operator since the age of 14; call letters were KØLUW. Survived by wife, Sharon A. Halbert; children: Jeffrey (Lisa) Halbert, Michael Halbert, and Patti (Chris) Heller; three grandchildren: Kaylei Halbert, Madison Halbert, and Chris Heller, Jr.; sisters, Miriam (Dukie) Armintrout and Margaret (Mimi) Downing; cousin, Suzanne Basilovac.

Cremation; no services.


Born in Omaha, NE, my parents moved to Des Moines, IA in 1956. Got my novice ticket in September of 1957. I moved to Omaha, NE in 1960 to attend college. I have been here since. My original call was KN&126;UW which was changed to K&126;UW in December of 1957 at age 14 when I passed my general. I have been active since in all facets of ham radio. I now work mostly CW and a little 2m fm on the local repeaters. My current main interest is in building and experimenting with antennae. I reply to direct QSL's 100%. No replies to Bureau QSL's.
