Tidewater VirginiaChapter 119 - Virginia Beach, Virginia Chartered September 22, 1979 Host Chapter of the 2008 QCWA Convention! Click here For Information
One of the most beneficial programs that QCWA could undertake for our membership would be the Biography Project that Bob Roske, NØUF, QCWA Webmaster, has mentioned several times in our conversations. There is a wealth of achievement and adventure hidden away in the private memories of our members, most of whom were active in amateur radio during much of our QCWA history. Good friends may know some of the events of these members past lives and may know of the contributions they may have made to amateur radio and to the communities in which they live. But most of us do not. When our treasured members pass from the active QCWA membership roles it would be a real tribute to them, and perhaps an inspiration to younger amateur radio operators coming along, to have a biographical sketch to inform our memories and to inspire our own efforts to advance both ourselves and our amateur radio heritage. Chapter 119 would like to support this program, as we have supported other programs announced by QCWA, Inc. This may be a national program in scope, but it is entirely local in implementation. All that is required is for a biographical information sheet to be filled out by each member, or by a friend assisting an infirm member. An audio tape of reminiscences would be a wonderful addition to the Chapter Biography records but would not be required. Photographs should be attached to the biographical information sheet(s) if any were available. Each chapter should begin this project before any more of our treasured members leave us. Good luck with your part of this worthy activity.
