QCWA Bulletin 2017-008 - QCWA Awards William (Bill) Orr, W8NPU - QCWA 80th Anniversary Award

On behalf of the Quarter Century Wirless Association, Inc. (QCWA), member Don Fuhr, K8KSM presented QCWA Life Member William (Bill) Orr, W8NPU with the QCWA 80th Anniversary Award, and this year Orr has been licensed for 82 years.

QCWA Certificate Custodian Vic Culver, W4VIC provided the certificate and made arrangements with Fuhr for a memorable presentation to Orr.

Orr earned his commercial 2nd class radiotelephone license at age 18 in 1935, and began his radio career in radio broadcast engineering. In 1936 he obtained his amateur radio Class 'A' license. He also held call sign WA6NKM.

The award presentation took place a Orr's home where he and his wife Mary shared his amazing story.

On April 2017, Orr celebrated his 100th birthday.
