QCWA Bulletin 2016-020 - Leroy 'Baldy' Baldwin, WØOFY - Silent Key

It is with sadness we report the passing of QCWA # 24694, Leroy 'Baldy' Baldwin, W0OFY of Robins, IA., on October 23, 2016 at the age of 84.

Baldwin was elected to the QCWA Board of Director in 2006 and served until 2012. He was a member of the QCWA Chapter Relations Standing Committee (later renamed to Chapter & Member Relations Committee) and served as its Chair from 2006-2012.

Baldwin was first licensed in May 1953 as W0OFY. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the Naval Reserve in VP-813 and worked as an electrical engineer at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, IA, retiring in 1990 after 35 years of employment.

Baldwin enjoyed operating ham radio and was Net Control for many years for the QCWA Chapter 8 HF Net. He enjoyed driving antique cars and was a member of the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America), QCWA (Quarter Century Wireless Association) and the ARRL (American Radio Relay League).
