QCWA Bulletin 2016-016 - QCWA Scholarship Chair Appointment - Glen Reid, K5FX

The QCWA Board welcomes QCWA Life Member #26847, Glen Reid, K5FX, as the new QCWA Scholarship Chair filling the vacancy of Tim Donovan, W4CLK who has been acting as Chair pro tem since Februay 2016.

Reid was first licensed in 1961, holds an Amateur Extra Class license, a FCC Part 5 Experimental Radio 472-479 Kilohertz - WH2XGZ, and resides in Austin, TX with his wife Gail.

Reid's former professional experience includes Director of Regional Criminal Justice Planning, Houston Galveston Area Council of Governments, Director of Planning - City of Beaumont, Texas Police Department and Police Officer with the City of Pasadena, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Science, 1969 and is retired from Motorala after 27 years as Sales Manager.

Reid's Amateur Radio activities include Assistant Director for Emergency Communications, ARRL West Gulf Division, Emergency Coordinator (Retired) for Travis County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, former Treasurer, Texas Amateur Radio Political Action Committee (TXHAMPAC), founder & Charter Member of the Austin QRP Club (AQRP), founder & Charter Member of Friends of W5AC and support organization for Texas A&M University Amateur Radio Club. He is a Life Member of QCWA, ARRL, AMSAT, as well a member of the Austin ARC.
