I was the QCWA Chairman for the 2001 and 2005 Annual Convention, a two term president of Chapter 162 and have submitted several articles along with the quarterly chapter report to our Journal. First Licensed in 1963, I am a life member of QCWA #22155, a member of ARRL and have served in the leadership position of a major repeater group and local radio club in Southeastern Wisconsin. I was a Career Counselor retired from the transportation industry and later the military. I hold a Master degree from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in Educational Psychology. I am an instructor with several of our local Amateur Radio licensing classes and very active within the area ARES group. A current highlight involved hosting a six-week communication course for the seventh grade students (all 27 of them) at a specialty middle school (all students are at Risk). Eight of the youngster wanted to set up a licensing class (currently taking place) with a future goal of having a Ham Club in their school. As a retiree, I try to engage in as much community volunteer adventures as time permits. I am very much a people person who gratefully enjoys working with other folks in problem solving tasks and quality of life issues. I appreciate the opportunity to present myself to you as a candidate and always look toward enhancing the Quarter Century Wireless Association at every occasion. 73,Larry McCalvy, WA9JMO |
