Ken Oelke was born in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada and became a radio amateur in 1961 as VE6AFO. He joined QCWA as a Life Member in 1989 and is currently President of Wild Rose Chapter 151. Ken is married to Linda-Lou, VE6LGO. During his amateur radio career he held executive positions in CARA, ARLA, CRRL, and more recently, as Director (1993-1999) and President of Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) to 2001. In 1994 he chaired the RAC First National Convention and currently is Chair of the QCWA International Convention for 2006. Ken was RAC Head of Delegation at the IARU-R2 Conference in Guatemala City in 2001. He was involved with ARES for 15 years and held the position of RAC Field Service Manager for 5 years. In March 2002 Ken revived QCWA Wild Rose Chapter 151 after having been dissolved in 2001. An Automotive Service Technician, he owned and operated an automotive service outlet for 20 years and is presently employed with Air Canada Jazz as a Ground Equipment Technician for the past 10 years. Ken is a Life Member of ARRL, RAC, QCWA and a current member of CARA and QCWA Chapter 70, 73 and 151. Ken also volunteers at the Calgary Aero Space Museum and has been on the Stampede Parade Committee for the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede since 1988. 73,Ken Oelke, VE6AFO |
